MedBytes – Fish Oil
Looking for a Fish Oil supplement?
Not a big fan of eating fish and/or looking for a supplement?
Omega-3 fatty acids are EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid).
Here are some things to look for when choosing an over-the-counter supplement:
Ask your doctor how much Omega-3’s you need per day.
Check the labels and ingredients. Look for how much Omega-3 fatty acids each dose has, NOT the amount of Fish Oil.
Check the doses, too. Not all are 1 capsule per dose. Sometimes you have to take up to 3 capsules for each dose!
In the USA, look for a brand with the “USP Verified” mark on it. This will ensure that you don’t get one with large amounts (think, harmful levels) of contaminants.
As always, discuss this information with your doctor.
